The Lib Dems are fighting to block the Tories' plans proposal for a giant waste incinerator in the Marston Vale. Liberal Democrats have instead proposed using latest technology for mechanical and biological processes to extract the maximum amount of usable material from the waste.

The Liberal Democrats have fought a fowerful and effective campaign against the local Conservatives' proposals to burn Beds' waste. However, Tory-led Buckinghamshire County Council has confirmed its own plans to export its waste to an even bigger incinerator at Rookery Pit near Stewartby. This would also involve importing over 400,000 tonnes of rubbish from elsewhere to be burnt at the site.

Please sign our petition below to stop both of the proposals for a giant incinerator at Rookery South, near Stewartby.

I/we call on Bedford's Councils to abandon the plans for a giant incinerator at Rookery South pit (near Stewartby) and use methods of waste treatment that maximise recycling.
