Sir Alan Beith, our Lib Dem MP, has fought long and hard to get better services for Berwick Infirmary so people needing treatment do not have to travel long distances to get the help and support they need.

He helped local people who raised funds for a successful bid to get a chemotherapy unit opened in Berwick and after a long campaign Sir Alan has helped secure agreement that a new hospital will be built in Berwick.

Although health care in Berwick is very good and is still improving Sir Alan has been helping local people who have problems receiving kidney dialysis. Many patients have to make a round trip of over 120 miles every time they need this vital treatment.

"I am calling on health chiefs to make kidney dialysis available at Berwick Infirmary. Not everyone can manage home dialysis, and for them, traveling such long distances for treatment is an incredible burden," said Sir Alan.

Please sign our petition below to persuade health bosses that Berwick needs kidney dialysis.

I the undersigned call upon Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust to provide Kidney Dialysis at Berwick Infirmary. At present patients requiring dialysis have to make a round trip of over 120 miles to receive treatment.
