An application (#10/669/W) has been submitted to Cardiff Council by Reliant Building Contractors to build 345 student flats on the old coal yard site behind Mynachdy Road. The development would consist of 23 blocks, each one three storeys in height, with just 27 car parking spaces for the whole of the site!

Local councillor, Ed Bridges, is objecting to the scheme on behalf of local residents. The grounds for the objection include:

  • lack of car parking on the site
  • the scale of the development
  • unsafe access
  • height of the new blocks
  • loss of light for neighbouring properties
  • noise

Residents are also being encouraged to submit detailed comments on the plans by writing to: The Chief Regulatory Services Officer, City Hall, Cardiff, CF10 3ND, or by e-mailing developmentcontrol@cardiff.gov.uk – residents should quote the application number (#10/669/W), and should also send a copy of any comments to Cllr. Ed Bridges so he can reinforce their comments when he makes his formal submission.
